Plays the music of the Harlem Renaissance.
The Legacy Jazz Quintet’s recent performances of Miles Davis material from the “Kind of Blue” album garnered great acclaim. Led by pianist and Jazz St. Louis’ Director of Education Phil Dunlap, the Legacy Jazz Quintet brings together many of the finest players in the St. Louis area. The band is in the mold of the classic quintets of Davis, Art Blakey and Horace Silver from the 1950s and ‘60s.
