One of Jazz St. Louis’ 2011-12 residency artists, Sherman Irby has a sweet but driving alto saxophone sound and style that is bop-derived, but uniquely his own. A member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, he plays with passion and skill on both ballads and up-tempo pieces. Irby is an accomplished new arrival, sure to gain a following at the Bistro.
