Jazz Academy is a free music and leadership development program for middle school students who have an interest in performing music and want to strengthen their abilities. Open to students in 6th through 8th grade, members meet weekly, after school at Jazz St. Louis. Each week, Jazz Academy students participate in a variety of activities ranging from individual music lessons and ensemble classes to tutors that work directly with students on their homework. The inaugural year of Jazz Academy will begin in October 2017 and will conclude in June 2018 with a weeklong day camp.

SATURDAY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
In addition to the weekly, after-school sessions, one Saturday each month students will attend our Saturday Leadership Academy at the Steward Center for Jazz. The Leadership Academy focuses on cultivating leadership and teamwork skills while continuing to develop students’ musical abilities. Saturday Leadership Academy activities range from teambuilding workshops, to music master classes, to yoga and field trips to local institutions.
