Jazz for Our Schools

Introduce Your Students to Jazz

Jazz for Our Schools provides students from area schools the opportunity to experience world-class musicians in the Jazz St. Louis. Students get to experience an interactive live performance from a national touring jazz band.

School groups attending a performance arrive at 11:00 am for lunch. Pizza is provided by Jazz St. Louis. 

Following lunch, students enjoy an educational live performance with one of our Subscription Series Artists. Performances finish by 12:30 pm.

Reimbursement for transportation is available for schools that require assistance. More information is available on the online application form.

GRAMMY nominated pianist Marcus Roberts is the genius of the modern piano. Blind since childhood, he built his celebrated career on a unique blend of jazz and classical idioms. Today he leads young musicians in the Modern Jazz Generation ensemble.

A premier organist on the international scene today, Pat Bianchi brings a unique vitality to jazz. Known for fearlessly taking the jazz organ into new and exciting directions, he blends tradition with forward thinking creativity when playing. Leading his talented trio, Bianchi creates a swinging, refreshed jazz organ experience.

As one of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s latest rising stars, Cameroonian-American vocalist, Ekep Nkwelle, is shaping the future of jazz. Steeped in spirituality and poetic insight, her expansive repertoire continues to turn heads among jazz luminaries. Her sound is captivating, powerful, and earnestly tender.

SULLIVAN FORTNER TRIO

2026 GRAMMY Award winning pianist, composer, bandleader Sullivan Forter is a powerhouse performer and an uncompromising individualist. Bringing together Tyrone Allen and Kayvon Gordon, the Sullivan Forter Trio preserves the tradition of jazz while evolving its sound through the introduction of new musical styles.

KEYON HARROLD EXPERIENCE

Three-time GRAMMY nominated trumpeter Keyon Harrold is inventive and in-demand. A renowned St. Louis native, often compared to Miles Davis, he creates multidisciplinary, genre-blending jazz. Harrold’s sound moves fluidly between the spectrum of African American music to create ‘Bop Pop Hip-Hop Jazz’.

Nine-time Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Tierney Sutton is known for her exceptional voice and imaginative treatments of the Great American Songbook.
