BRIAN BLADE & THE FELLOWSHIP BAND
Ft. Christopher Thomas, Myron Walden, Weldon Butler & John Cowherd
Experience the return of the legendary jazz ensemble Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band, featuring St. Louis–connected bass master Christopher Thomas. Led by visionary drummer and composer Brian Blade, the Fellowship Band has spent nearly three decades crafting a sound that blends spiritual jazz, gospel, folk, and Americana influences into music that is both deeply soulful and expansive. Formed in 1997 with pianist and co composer Jon Cowherd, the group has developed a rare chemistry and collective spirit, with members who have also collaborated with artists such as Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan. Anchored by Thomas’s warm, lyrical bass playing, the band moves fluidly between hymn-like melodies, open improvisation, and powerful rhythmic moment. Together, they create a performance that feel less like a traditional jazz set and more like a spiritual, communal musical journey.
