Jazz Academy

Jazz Academy partners with select middle schools to accelerate student growth and leadership through the study of jazz. Meeting three times a week after school at Jazz St. Louis, students receive individual lessons, ensemble coaching, supplemental music assignments, and academic support, all in a welcoming environment that encourages creativity and community. Jazz Academy also provides dinner, snacks, and transportation, removing barriers to participation. Beyond the classroom, students work with world-class touring artists through the Jazz St. Louis Artist Residency program, attend Jazz St. Louis performances at no cost, and showcase their own progress on the Jazz St. Louis stage. As space is limited, students from partner schools are admitted first. As space is available, other students may be considered.
